She didn’t know that her grandfather was the Supreme Ruler of the planet Anders Major, or that she is now his heir, until a terrifying encounter with Frederick Pritchard, late one night in the rainforest, a place where she had always felt safe. With the help of military man, Sean Bellamy, she discovers a plot that runs not just to the highest levels of government on Earth, but beyond, to the Inter-Planetary League (IPL), a group of aliens who have worked with Earth’s military for centuries but, while the IPL does all they can to help her, they have their own agenda. As Jemma is drawn in, she discovers that her future – and the future of the human race on Earth – still hangs in the balance. https://almcdonnell.com

This is the SURPRISE BOOK of the year. Our Earth in 2020 is in fear of a worldwide spread of an unforeseen virus. Conspiracy theories abound at the moment. Has this book unintentionally stumbled on the answers? (Tongue in cheek of course.)
New author A.L. McDonnell poses the release of a virus on Earth by bioterrorists. Abandoned : In Exile, quickly takes the reader into a world of intrigue, danger and the world of Sci-Fi. It is difficult for the two heroes of the story, Jemma Anderson and Sean Bellamy to ascertain who are the Goodies and who are the Baddies, until we are presented with the supposition – “Open your mind – once you understand who they are, and what you can learn from them”, is it clear that Earth is being visited by the Inter – Planetary League.
Then as readers, we are confronted by the questions, who are these Guardians, and how does the past overtake the present? I just love the idea of time portals in the universe. We could zip through one and undo the horrors of past history. Is this the answer to solving the dilemma facing Earth and the spread of viruses? I’m very glad, that author A.L. McDonnell dragged her manuscript from her bottom drawer and Sid Harta published this great read.

Abandoned In Exile, by A.L McDonnell is excellently written with enough twists and turns to keep you engrossed all the way through. Jemma just isn't sure who to trust and who has her best interests at heart, and the reader is drawn into this evolving plot, wondering if she has made the correct choice. Fabulous science fiction story and great reading right to the end. Alison Lewis author “Missing” and “Seasons of Life”

‘An intriguing story concept, with plenty of action to hold the reader’s interest. Well researched, with an ending that invites a sequel. A good read.’

Ian Dolby, author of the Firebird series.

A chance sinister sighting at a remote location uncovers chilling threats of Bio-terrorism, hostile Alien crafts and corrupt governments abandoning those sent to help Earth from destroying itself. A spine-tingling Sci-fi thriller to the very end. Review: Vivian Waring (author When Tears Ran Dry)

Science Fiction

Dr Jemma Anderson is a respected Australian scientist. The idea of alien visitation, UFOs and time travel have always been, to her, a fanciful myth.
But, as she hurtles through time and space in a massive spaceship, she is forced to re-evaluate.
She had no idea she was born on the planet Anders Major but, rejected by Earth and unable to return to the war-torn Anders, she gratefully accepts the protection of the Inter-Planetary League.
Arriving on Earth in the year 2099, she is shocked at the devastation caused by decades of war and sets about to help with the re-establishment, only to find that her mortal enemy Fredrick Pritchard has somehow followed and has formed an alliance with unfriendly aliens from the planet Ailazant.
Pritchard and the Zants abduct Jemma’s husband, Sean Bellamy. With IPL help, she travels across the universe to rescue him, but when their spaceship is stolen, they are stranded on the planet Condona, millions of light years from Earth.

Part 2 in the saga of Dr Jemma Anderson is a well written post apocalyptic sci-fi novel with a cast of interesting characters, human and otherwise. Faced with possible extinction, she, and her friends, make the desperate choice of travelling decades into the future without any idea of what sort of world will await them on arrival, or if any exists still exists.

Her enemies ensure that not even that desperate a move will be enough to bring her to a place of peace and security.

The saga is beautifully constructed, with believable technology and thoughtful application of character construction.

We await Volume 3 with bated breath.
