Social Media Marketing
Marketing for Writers.
If you wish to get your publications in front of as many people as possible, you must embrace Social Media.
It’s not good enough to publish your work on Amazon and other online bookstores, and hope they sell your book for you. It won’t happen. There are millions of books and authors out there, and you can bet the best sellers are using digital platforms to make people aware of their books.
You don’t have to be a best seller to make good income from your work. You just need to build a substantial audience, as mentioned in the last addition of Scope.
Marketing for Writers
Social Media, used properly, is still the best way to get yourself out there and build you audience. Below are some essentials that I find the most useful.
- Goodreads
- Email Marketing
- Australian Authors Marketplace
I don’t have the space here to go into the use of these platforms in detail, however, in my publication “Marketing for Writers” you will find many helpful hints. If you are reading this in print, type the following address into your browser https://perrydigitalmarketing.com.au
When using these platforms, (I would recommend getting Facebook down pat before tackling the others), simply posting a picture of your book with the base message, “Buy my Book” isn’t enough.
It is always recommended that you vary your message. Post a short blurb about the story with your book cover image, or you might post short excerpts from your book which pique the interest of the reader, perhaps talk about your characters, and always have a link back to your book page on your website or your sales platform. The same is true for twitter, although the number of words you can use is limited.
Have a specific Brand Page for your writing, no food or pets. Post regularly, (5 to 10 times per week). Make your posts interesting and always use impressive images.
