Umbrellas in the Jungle is a collection of humorous short stories from nine months travelling in South America from September 2023 until June 2024 - a convoluted 281 days in Colombia, Ecuador, Brasil and Peru. All stories are based on real events and revolve around astute observation and satirical commentary. It is a series of cobbled nonsense sense and tangential interjections based somewhat on reality, written in a stream of consciousness style which drip with irony and sarcasm. It is filled with incidental, sometimes superfluous information, which meander like a dunk attempting to walk a straight line at the local RBT, more-or-less in a straight line, with various deviations which challenges the reader to think beyond the exact details. Filled with moments of gentle smirks and the occasional clever chuckle, one could be motivated to research location, facts, translations and veracity of said information, but only if one is inclined.
